Stolen 4,500-year-old trophy recovered in Jiroft

A stolen 4,500-year-old trophy was found during police operations in the city of Jiroft, Kerman Province, said a judiciary official in the city.

Hossein Salami said that an antique trophy, dating back to the Stone Age, which is in the form of a handbag, was recently recovered from a village in the suburb of Jiroft, Mehr News Agency wrote.

The antique was recovered through tireless efforts of the police and intelligence forces in Jiroft and the three accused were identified, he added.

Investigation on the case is continuing, he stated.

The public prosecutor said, "The antique was inspected by an expert from the provincial Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department."

The trophy, which is made of high quality marble, measures 28cm by 28cm and its diameter is eight centimeters, Salami concluded.
