Tehran ready to share military experiences with Baku: Iranian minister

Iran's visiting defense minister on Thursday voiced Tehran's readiness to share its valuable war and anti-terrorism experiences with the neighboring country of Azerbaijan.

Today, Iran designs and produces its needs to military equipment all inside the country, Brigadier General Amir Hatami said in the Azeri capital city of Baku while he was visiting Azerbaijan's High Military School named after the country's former president, Heydar Aliyev, IRNA reported.

Tehran and Baku enjoy historical, cultural and religious commonalities which will prepare the ground for further bilateral relations, particularly in the area of military activities, said the Iranian defense minister.

Hatami was welcomed by Chief of the Azerbaijan's High Military School Major General Heydar Piriyev who later called for benefiting from the Iranian armed forces' experiences in order to improve the level of military knowledge in Azerbaijan.

He further hoped the two countries' military universities would exchange students and experiences to promote bilateral cooperation in the future.

The Iranian defense minister arrived in Baku on Wednesday (February 21) at the head of a military delegation.

Hatami is in Baku at the invitation of his Azeri counterpart Zakir Hasanov.
