Iran, Oman agree to bolster marine tourism

Iran and Oman reached a deal to cooperate in marine tourism, excursion and health tourism, said vice president and head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO)

Ali Asghar Monesan said after a meeting with visiting Omani Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Nasser al-Mahrizi at Tehran's Sa'adabad historical-cultural complex that the both sides sought to introduce their own tourism capacities, IRNA wrote.

He added that Iran is also willing to share its experience with Oman in the production of handicrafts.

Archeological excavations and relations between museums of the two countries were among other issues discussed by the two delegations.

He said that the Omani side showed keen interest in benefiting from Iran's experience in transforming historical buildings to hotels.

Al-Mahrizi pointed to promoting ties in the tourism sector and said, "God willing practical steps will be taken for constant cooperation in the future."

He said that issuing visa is not expensive for Oman, adding that some tourist agencies were requesting guarantees from the Iranian side, which was a mistake, and his government was against it.

Al-Mahrizi underlined that Oman will offer facilities to promote tourism between the two countries.
