Exports of minerals and mining industries' products amounted to $587 million during March 21, 2017-January 20, 2018, indicating a 4.6-percent growth year-on-year, according to figures released by Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
In this period, the weight of the exports stood at 53.337 million tons, which is 1.3 percent lower than the figure for the same duration of last year, IRNA reported.
In the same time span, Iran imported 9.55 million tons of minerals and mining industries' products worth $4.46 billion, indicating increases of 78.7 percent and 32.4 percent in terms of weight and value, respectively, compared to the figures for the same period of a year ago.
Steel products constituted the biggest share of Iran's exports in the 10-month period to January 20, 2018. The weight and value of Iran's exports of steel products in this duration stood at 7.27 million tons and $2.71 billion, respectively, indicating increases of 29 percent and 11 percent year-on-year.
Following the steel industry's products, overseas sales of pottery items, brick, ceramic and tile held the second biggest share of Iran's exports during the said 10-month period. In this duration, Iran exported more than six million tons of these products valued at $886 million.
Also in this time span, Iran exported 15.89 million tons of iron ore worth $877 million.
