Some of the handicrafts were on display at the exhibition.

Artworks of Afghani artists were showcased at an exhibition held at the Embassy of Afghanistan in New Delhi.

Inaugurated by Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali, Afghanistani ambassador to India, the Afghan Painting and Handicraft Exhibition at the Gandahara Hall of the Embassy, displayed more than 40 paintings, handicrafts including gemstone artwork depicting the history of that country, dnaindia.com reported.

Aimed at promoting works of Afghani artists, it also displayed handmade jewelry, artefacts and embroidered clothes from the country.

More than 100 people from various embassies including diplomats and government officials; people from different industries, and from the Afghanistan School in New Delhi attended the exhibition.

Congratulating the artists, Abdali said, "The remarkable artworks are the main pillars of development and sustenance of communities.

“No society can progress in the absence of culture. Our cultural values will bring giant strides in future — a culture which is based on diversity, tolerance, humility, deep knowledge and understanding."

Abdali further said that culture can transcend boundaries. He was speaking in the context of Indo-Afghan relations. Afghan artists and businessmen were awarded certificates and appreciation letters at the end of the event.
