Two Iranian shorts grab awards at Italian SorsiCorti

Two Iranian films 'Not Yet' by Arian Vazirdaftari and 'Retouch' by Kaveh Mazaheri won awards at the SorsiCorti Short Film Festival in Italy.

'Not Yet' and 'Retouch' grabbed the Best Film and Best Director awards respectively at the 12th edition of the Italian festival, wrote.

Other Iranian titles including 'The Servant' by Farnoush Abedi, 'Blows with the Wind' by Hazhir As'adi, and 'Flatland' by Alireza Keimanesh and Amir Pousti also took part in the Italian event.

Co-produced by Mazaheri and the Iranian Young Cinema Society, 'Retouch' narrates the story of a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes while she cannot do anything but to witness the unfolding of this tragic event.

'Not Yet’ directed by Vazirdaftari and produced by Majid Barzegar and Iranian Youth Cinema Association was among the eight winners in the short film category of the 2017 Moondance Film Festival in Colorado, the US. The film also received special mention at the short film category of Iranian Film Festival Australia.

SorsiCorti is a short film festival that combines conviviality and interest in the art of the short film.

Launched in 2010, the festival is aimed at giving visibility to the work of filmmakers from all over the world and offering a careful selection of quality short films to the audience.

The 12th edition of SorsiCorti was held from May 20 to 29 in Palermo, Italy.
