Iran, Malaysia sign MoU on translating literary works

Iran's Cultural Center and Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books signed an agreement to translate literary works from the two countries.

According to IRNA, Iran's Cultural Attaché in Kuala Lumpur Ali Mohammad Sabeqi said on Monday after signing the deal, "It is a five-year agreement, based on which major works of ancient and contemporary Persian literature will be translated into Malay language, and in turn, some works on Malay will be translated into Persian."

Head of Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books Mohammad Khair Ngadiron signed the agreement on behalf of Malaysia.

The agreement also calls for translating the works and publishing the biography of five classical poets and 15 writers from each the two languages.

Diwan of Persian poetess Parvin E'tesami is to be translated and Molana's collection which had been translated into Malay language is to be retranslated.
