Manchester United has taken a firm stance it will not sell Paul Pogba, despite reports of his agent Mino Raiola agitating for a move.

Barcelona and Juventus are interested in the World Cup-winning star, but the English club made it clear it will not sell, The Independent reported.

It does remain true that there are unresolved issues between Pogba and manager Jose Mourinho from last season – especially in terms of tactics and how they interact.

This has led to Raiola looking at alternative options beyond Old Trafford, with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola famously revealing last season that he had been offered the midfielder.

Despite all of that, even Mourinho believes it would be folly to sell Pogba now. That is even more pronounced for United as a whole, which sees Pogba as central to its commercial plans as much as the team’s future on the pitch.

‘Silence rumors’

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand warned the club not to sell the Frenchman and instead to focus on strengthening the squad, AFP reported.

Ferdinand, who made more than 450 appearances for the club, wants Pogba to stay and Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld to come in.

Referring to reports that Raiola is looking at the Camp Nou as a possible new home for his player, Ferdinand said, "Don't you dare allow this ED... #MUFC is Pogba's home!! Silence these rumors ASAP & get @AlderweireldTob through the door."
