Takht-Ravanchi told ISNA on Friday that Iranians have no expectations from the US President Donald Trump after he pulled the US out of the landmark nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.
The Iranian official said, “I do not see any reason for talks between Rouhani and Trump.”
Trump decided in May to abandon the nuclear deal signed in 2015 between Iran and six world powers – the US, the UK, France, Russia, China and Germany.
On Monday, the President Trump ordered all nuclear-related sanctions that were removed under the deal to be reinstated.
The first phase of the unilateral sanctions came into effect on Tuesday, targeting Iran’s purchase of US dollars, trade in gold and other precious metals as well as its automotive sector.
A second batch of sanctions will be reimposed in November with the aim of curtailing Iran’s oil exports and shipping sectors.
