Touraj Aslani’s ‘Gold Carrier’ from Iran is voted to enter the main competition of the New Currents program to win the Best Film prize.
In addition, four films representing American cinema including ‘Magic Lantern’ by Amir Naderi, ‘Rona, and Azim’s Mother’ by Jamshid Mahmoudi, Jafar Panahi’s acclaimed film ‘Three Faces’ and ‘Sly’ by Kamal Tabrizi will be screened in A Window on Asian Cinema section.
Iranian two-time-Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi’s Spanish-language film, ‘Everybody Knows’, a joint product of Spain, France and Italy, will be present in the World Cinema section alongside Ali Abbasi’s ‘Border’, a product of Sweden and Denmark.
In the Wide Angle section devoted to children’s films, ‘Once in a Child’s Life’, directed by Sara Momtazian and co-produced by South Africa, Ecuador and Colombia will be screened.
Launched in 1996, the Busan International Film Festival is Asia’s largest of its kind, with a focus on discovering new movies and up-and-coming directors from across the region. The 23rd edition will open on October 4 and continue for 10 days.
