Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei Friday called for unity and cooperation among Muslim nations to tackle issues in the Middle East.
“Unity and close cooperation among Islamic countries will definitely pave the way for resolving regional problems,” Ayatollah Khamenei told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Tehran.
The Leader said the United State fears that such cooperation could lead to the formation of an “Islamic power”, citing such worries as the main reason for the US animosity toward Muslim nations.
He said Iran and Turkey are two regional powers that can work together for the interests of the Muslim world.
Ayatollah Khamenei also urged a boost in ties between Tehran and Ankara.
Erdogan echoed a similar stance, blaming a lack of solidarity among Islamic countries for the current situation of the Muslim world.
He said Turkey and Iran need to strengthen their “solidarity and brotherhood” due to the West behavior toward them.
