Animation 'Bystander' awarded at Bangladesh festival

Iranian short animation 'Bystander', directed by Sheida Kashi, won the Best Animation Award at the Global Youth Film Festival Rangpur (GYFFR) in Bangladesh which was held from September 27-29.

The eight-minute animation is about an old man who lives behind a window, watching a cold and vulnerable world. He does not care about the revolution taking place in the country. Looking back he realizes that when he was young he had played an active role in another revolution, ifilmtv.ir wrote.

It had won Best Animation award at the 2018 International Youth Film Festival 'Light of the World' in Russia, as well as the Best Short Animation award in the 18th 'Picture This' Film Festival in Canada. Kashi, a graphic designer and director, won the best animation award in Ukraine's Cinemaway Film Festival.

GYFFR took place in Rangpur city with the slogan, 'Let's Cinema'. Cinema Bangladesh organized this assembly of young directors from around the world at the Town Hall of Rangpur. The international section received 1,270 movies which were directed by 101 young directors across the world.
