Storms and floods damages have cost up to 2,200 billion rials to various agricultural sections in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran, according to Azizollah Shahidifar, the head of Agriculture Jihad Organization of Mazandaran Province.
The northern province was constantly hit by heavy rains on Friday and Saturday, causing damages to farmlands, bridges and infrastructures.
According to the Mazandaran Meteorological Organization, the precipitation rate in Ramsar reached up to 280 millimeters over the first 24 hours of pouring – the highest figure for the past 25 years.
Neighboring provinces of Gilan, Golestan and North Khorasan were also hit by floods, as a result of which at least nine died.
