Iran's six-month imports from Russia double in value

A report on Iran's imports during March 21-September 22 shows the value of imports from Russia has doubled compared the figure for the corresponding period last year.

Iran's Customs Office report on half-yearly imports indicates that Russia exported goods worth more than $633 million to Iran during the six-month period, reported Tasnim News Agency.

Figures show that the value of imports from Russia has risen by 99.88 percent against the figure for the same period in the previous year.

Iran and Russia, both faced with US sanctions, have devised plans to increase trade and ease mercantile regulations.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani described Tehran and Moscow as 'strategic partners'.

In June, Rouhani and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in a meeting in China highlighted the need to maintain and promote economic relations between the two sides.
