Commander: Iranian border guard killed by outlaws

An Iranian border guard was killed in an armed conflict with outlaws in the country’s western province of Kurdestan, IRNA reported.

Deputy Commander of border guards Mohammad-Kazem Taqavi said the Iranian soldier was killed Monday night in clashes between Iranian Army forces and an armed group in Marivan.

Taqavi said that a large number of weapons and ammunitions were also confiscated from the group that were trying to penetrate the country to commit sabotage.

On September 9, Iran’s Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) fired seven short-range missiles at a gathering of terrorist commanders in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

The IRGC said the operation came following "wicked actions" taken by terrorist groups from the Kurdistan region against Iran’s border areas in the previous months.

The missile attack was in response to the terrorists’ July attack on Iranian border guards in which several people were killed.
