Fruit exports witnessed a 17-percent growth during March 21-September 22, 2018, compared to the figure for the same period of last year, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
In this period, IRICA added, a total of 1.13 million tons of various types of fruits worth $741 million were exported from Iran, IRNA wrote.
Iran exported 974,000 tons of fruits valued at $633 million in the same duration a year ago.
Exports of vegetables reached 1.11 million tons valued at $438 million in the six-month period to September 2018.
Iran had exported 732,000 tons of vegetables worth $221 million during the same time-span last year.
Melon peel was among Iran's export items destined mostly to Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Iraq, Qatar, Georgia, Germany and the UK. The product is used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
In the six month period to September 2018, Iran exported over 56.5 million tons of non-oil products valued at $23 billion.
