The 40th Plenary Session of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Affiliate Members in Hamedan, to be attended by 60 guests from 26 foreign countries, demonstrates the inability of the US government to restrict Iran’s communication with the world, said deputy head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) for tourism affairs.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Sunday, Vali Teimori said tourism plays a very decisive role in the conditions of sanction and helps the country to resist and neutralize the plots made by the US, IRNA wrote.
“Tourism is considered an effective tool which can serve diplomacy and lead the world to hear our voice of depression,” he said.
He stressed that tourism is a means used in the international arenas to promote peace, consolidation and compliance in the world, adding Iran will utilize the feature to resist the false picture created by US about Iran.
He said there are the two types of membership in UNWTO including official and affiliated memberships, of which the latter pertains to private tourism organizations.
Teimori said a number of programs are expected to be held on the sideline of the meeting including a seminar themed ‘Cultural Use of New Information and Communication Technologies,’ which is in conformity with the theme of this year's World Tourism Day (Sept. 27) which was Tourism and the Digital Transformation.
“An exhibition on tourism startups and digital technology will also be held during the event,” he said.
He underlined that efforts should be made to use the power of media and help Iran’s tourism sector defeat its rivals in the international arenas.
Hamedan will host the 40th Plenary Session of the Affiliate Members from November 12 to 14.
In line with previous sessions, the 40th Plenary Session of the Affiliate Members will provide the ideal setting for participants to discuss the annual program of work and to establish partnerships and joint initiatives around new and existing areas of work.
Undoubtedly, the ancient and mythical city of Hamedan is a four season paradise with brilliant background and rich culture.
This city has ever been the capital of civilization, science, art, wisdom and mystics and been home to philosophers such as Avicenna, poets such as Baba Taher Oryan whose theosophical quatrains are still unique.
Most of its towns such as Nahavand and Tuyserkan are really old and, as it is said, Hamedan had been Iran’s first governmental organization where called Hegmataneh.
