Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said that countries which failed to break the Syria’s resistance through military operations, are now trying to exert pressure on the Arab country by political means.
Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with a visiting delegation of Syrian lawmakers in Tehran on Tuesday, IRNA reported.
The Iranian official said that the atmosphere in the world has turned in favor of Syria, noting that the Arab country should take advantage of the situation.
The meeting came a day after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister on Special Political Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari held a meeting in Damascus.
Both officials pledged to keep counter-terrorism cooperation and to counter US bids to revive terrorists and create obstacles to prolong the war in the Arab country.
Stressing the importance of Syrian-Iranian relations as a factor of stability, the two sides reaffirmed both nations’ determination to continue combating terrorist groups operating across the region.
They also underlined the need for a political settlement as the sole solution to the Syria crisis. They also vowed to resist any pressure by the United States, which is attempting after its failure to revive terrorists to topple the government in Damascus.
