Iran, Georgia sign cooperation deal on cultural heritage

Research Institute of Iran's Cultural Heritage and Tourism and Ilia State University of Georgia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), to work together in the fields of tourism and the cultural heritage.

The Iranian institute's Director for International and Legal Affairs Monir Khjolqi further said, "The MoU aims to develop and strengthen scientific and research relations in the fields of cultural heritage and tourism as the common heritage of humanity."

Pointing to the common destiny of nations in the region and the importance of communication, Kholqi underlined that conducting joint inter-cultural studies is a step toward better understanding of the nations, IRNA wrote.

The Iranian organization will implement the first round of the cooperation accord from January, Kholqi added.

She cited archeology and interdisciplinary studies, conservation and restoration at archeological sites and museums, tourism and related studies, scholarly history, architectural history and city construction, as among the issues included in the agreement.
