“A three-year vision has been laid out for the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) to make it the most influential news agency,” said IRNA Managing Director Zia Hashemi at a forum attended by directors, editors-in-chief and heads of IRNA regional offices in Tehran.
Commenting on the agency’s achievement to jump 57 spots to reach 14 from 71 among 95 Iranian organizations and enterprises in terms of making advances in the field of e-governance in the latest ranking, he said IRNA has made a similar significant achievement in terms of attracting audience.
Data show that the number of hits on IRNA website has increased over the past few months by 20 percent to 30 percent, he said, IRNA reported.
The two-day forum is attended by Mahmoud Vaezi, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s chief of staff, and Hessameddin Ashena, Iranian president’s aid on media and the head of the Center for Strategic Research.
Some senior Iranian officials including Bahram Qassemi, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will deliver speeches at the forum.
A website of IRNA public relation department as well as IRNA Plus will be unveiled at the event.
The 84-year old news agency has 54 local and 22 foreign offices that release the news round-the-clock in eight languages.
