Leili Orangi further said that more than 1.45 million tons of goods were exported from the province during the eight-month period, indicating a 43-percent growth compared to figure for the same period of the preceding year, IRNA reported.
She listed Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Georgia, Armenia, Pakistan, China, Bulgaria and Italy as the main destinations of exports from the province.
Orangi pointed out that Lebanon, Russia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Netherlands, Australia, the UK, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Canada were among the other countries which imported commodities from East Azarbaijan Province.
She referred to plastic materials, fuels, mineral oils, fruits, machineries, glass products, cereals, milk and confectionary as the main items exported from the province.
The official said that East Azarbaijan Province imported about 205,527 tons of goods worth $601.13 million from 54 countries from March 21 to November 21, which show a decline of 37 percent and 14 percent in terms of weight and value respectively compared to the figures same period of the past year.
She noted that machineries, mechanical and electric tools, tobacco, wooden products, charcoal, machineries' spare parts, papers, meat, various foodstuffs, iron, cast iron and plastic materials were among the main goods imported by East Azarbaijan Province.
