Iran, Italy stress expansion of radio, TV cooperation

Iran and Italian state broadcaster discussed media cooperation, especially in radio and television, between the two countries.

Iran's Ambassador to Italy Hamid Bayat in a meeting with the new head of Italian state broadcaster (Rai), Marcello Foa called for expanding media ties between the two countries, wrote IRNA.

Bayat pointed to the long history of cooperation between the two countries and underlined the need for Iranian and Italian authorities to pay more attention to media ties and expand them in all aspects.

He explained the role of the media in reflecting the current global developments and take a realistic look at the world from different angles.

Bayat added that Iran is ready to develop media relations and interact with more radio and television stations in the areas of news, education and technology.

Foa said that Iran enjoys rich culture and deep-rooted history, adding that the European country is ready to introduce Iran's real image to the Italians.

"TV and radio provide opportunity to echo all voices in the society," he said, adding that Italy can reflect Iran's stance on international developments.

Cooperation with Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting is highly welcomed, but requires appropriate steps to reach this goal, he concluded.
