A conference concerning security and peace in West Asia opened in Tehran tomorrow.
A number of high-profile diplomats are scheduled to speak at the forum which is sponsored by Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
The conference, dubbed “Peace and Security in West Asia; One Region, One Destiny,” is the first preliminary meeting for the upcoming Tehran Security Conference next month.
Former foreign minister Kamal Kharrazi, the head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, will be the keynote speaker at the meeting.
Three panels of discussions are set to be held in the one-day forum.
Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will be speaker of the first panel on “The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Developing Regional Order in West Asia.”
Mohammad Baqer Khorramshad, the secretary of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, will chair the second panel on “Security Strategy of Regional and Extra-Regional Actors in West Asia.”
Iran’s Intelligence Minister Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi will be the speaker of the third panel on “Conflict, Cooperation, Development, and Convergence in West Asia.”
A second preliminary meeting before the Tehran Security Conference will also be held in two weeks under the banner of “Cooperative Defensive-Security Policies in West Asia.”
