In the message, Rouhani congratulated Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the Arab country’s National Day, the president’s official website reported.
He also underlined that capitalizing on the potential and capacities of Iran and Qatar could help establish peace and stability in the region and enhance bilateral ties in various fields.
The Iranian president finally wished prosperity for the “brotherly and neighborly” people of Qatar.
Qatar celebrates its National Day on December 18 in commemoration of its unification back in 1878.
Iran and Qatar have moved to strengthen ties in recent months, particularly after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt all cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5 last year, after officially accusing it of “sponsoring terrorism.”
