Iran to fund Persian literature faculty construction in Afghanistan

Iran's cultural attaché in Afghanistan signed an agreement with the rector of Kabul University to build Persian language and literature faculty.

Iran was to finance the establishment of the faculty and the funds will be made available based on a memorandum of understanding inked by Mohammadreza Maleki and Hamidullah Farooqi, IRNA wrote.

The construction will begin in March 2019.

Maleki affirmed Iran's continued cooperation with Afghanistan and said Iran is committed to maintain the relations, as he donated 2,300 titles of textbooks to Kabul University.

The books pertain to studies in the fields of humanities, anthropology, literature, social sciences, economics, management, and computers.

The first round of cultural talks between Iran and Afghanistan, as well as a book fair, were held at Kabul University earlier this year. The second round is slated to be held in late February in the Iranian city of Zahedan, with the participation of 12 presidents of Afghan state and private universities. The third round will be held next year in Afghanistan.
