Zarif hopes New Year would be year of peace
Residents of the Syrian capital Damascus prepare for the first Christmas celebrations since government forces recovered full control of the city and its outskirts.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif in a message on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (PBUH) expressed hope the new Christian year would be the year of peace and tranquility.

The angels said, "Mary, God gives you good tidings of a Word from Him whose name is Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary; high honored shall he be in this world and the next, near stationed to God,” the Iranian top diplomat quoted a verse of the Muslims’ holy book, Qur’an.

May the blessings of the birth of Jesus usher peace and joy to all in 2019.

Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrated generally on December 25 as a religious and cultural holiday by millions of people around the world, including Iranian Christians.
