7m tons of goods transited via Iran in nine months

A total of seven million tons of oil and non-oil products were transited through Iran during the nine months from March 21-December 21, 2018 registering a four-percent growth compared to the figure for the same period of the previous year.

Reza Nafisi, the director general of Transit and International Transportation Office of Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization announced this on Monday, IRNA reported.

He added that 2.637 million tons of oil products were transited during the nine-month period while 4.427 million tons of non-oil commodities passed through Iran during the period.

Shahid Rajaei Port in Bandar Abbas in the southern Hormuzgan Province was the most active border terminal of Iran handling 2.067 tons of transited goods during the period accounting for 29 percent of total transit via Iran, he said.

The official further listed Parvizkhan, Bashmaq and Bazargan as Iran's second, third and fourth top terminals respectively during the period.

He added that the main transit goods were fuel, chemicals, construction materials, home appliances and cotton.
