Iran’s Sareh Javanmardi won a gold medal at the 2019 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in Al Ain, the UAE, on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Roqayeh Shojaei had opened Iran’s account at the competitions with a bronze at the R2 women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 contest.

The 34-year-old Javanmardi, a double gold medalist at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, tallied 232.6 points to claim the first spot at the P2 women's 10m air pistol SH1 category.

Iryna Liakhu of Ukraine and Italian Nadio Fario had to settle for the silver and bronze of the contest, respectively, having finished on 229.4 and 209.7 points.

Before Javanmardi’s gold-winning campaign, Shojaei, having finished second in the qualification round with 624.1pts, scored 225.6pts in the final to finish third at her respective contest, following Turkey’s Cagla Atakal (247.6pts) and Cuiping Zhang (247.4pts) of China.
