The “national waterjet” was unveiled in a ceremony in Tehran on Monday attended by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony, Hatami said Iran is a country with maritime borders and has numerous opportunities which should be tapped to boost the country’s power, Tasnim News Agency reported.
“Propulsion devices are one of the most important requirements and equipment in the maritime industry,” he said, adding that earlier last year, Iran unveiled a 1300hp diesel engine that has many applications in the maritime and rail sectors.
“And today, the waterjet propulsion system, which is one of the essential requirements of military, commercial and recreational vessels in the country, was unveiled,” the minister added.
