Japan, Iranian NGOs sign contract on GGP

Two 'Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects', known as 'GGP' contracts totaling at €55,591 were signed between Iranian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the area of support for livelihood of orphan and vulnerable women, and Japan's Ambassador to Iran Mitsugu Saito on February 25, 2019.

The projects are support from the people of Japan to the Iranian people. Moreover, it is proof of friendship between the two countries.

The Embassy of Japan in Iran wishes that wholehearted support of the Japanese for expansion and strengthening of the friendship will reach underprivileged people in the country, along with great success of the two projects listed as follows:

  1. The contract on granting the amount of €32,675 to Ardabil Charity Institute Care Center for Orphans and Neglected Children regarding 'The Project for Introduction of Equipment of the Care Center for Orphan in Ardabil Province'.
  2. The contract on granting the amount of €22,916 to Charity Center Supporting Vulnerable Women and Families regarding 'The Project for Introduction of Equipment of the Workshop for Vulnerable Women in Zanjan Province'.

The 'Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects' by the Government of Japan mainly focuses on projects that are highly beneficial at the grass-roots level and are particularly effective when financed by small-scale assistance, which require swift humanitarian support.

The Embassy of Japan in Iran has supported the projects proposed by various bodies such as NGOs and local governments, since 1999, and has carried out 140 projects in this country in the fields of primary education, medical care, public welfare and rural development, so far.

The Government of Japan intends to further continue its assistance to NGOs and local governments of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the humanitarian and development fields.
