Tourism to flourish in Qazvin

A workgroup has been formed in Iran’s northwestern province of Qazvin to boost its tourism, Head of the Planning and Development Department of Qazvin Municipality Hossein-Ali Asghari said.

Qazvin’s Municipality has recently made great efforts and invested a lot in reconstruction and restoration of the historical parts of the province.

Asghari said the province enjoys high potentials in terms of tourism and natural resources which make the city an attractive tourist destination, particularly for the people living in Tehran and Alborz provinces.

To mark the commencement of Persian New Year, Qazvin will also host a cultural festival in which eight other provinces will attend. It is slated for March 23 to 29.

The festival was also held last year, but this year it is supposed to be different from the previous version. A group of province’s different tourist attractions will be introduced each day.

Some of the tourist attractions of Qazvin include ‘Chehel Sotoun’ (Forty Pillars), one of the most important monuments of Safavid Era left from the royal palaces of Shah Tahmasb Safavid Era, and the ‘Caravanserai of Sa’d al-Saltaneh’, which was built during the Qajar Era.
