Iran will face Spain, Puerto Rico and Tunisia at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China, starting on August 31.
The draw for the FIBA’s flagship competition took place in front of some 8,000 spectators at Shenzhen Bay Arena in Shenzhen, China, on Saturday, where Iran was drawn in Group C of the tournament.
Iran will open its campaign against the Caribbean side Puerto Rico on August 31 before playing Tunisia on September 2.
On September 4, the final day of the group stage, the Asian powerhouse will face the winner of the competition in 2006 and three-time Olympics silver medalist Spain.
Iran beat Australia 85-74 in the Iranian capital of Tehran last February to seal a third-place finish in Group F of the Asian qualifiers, following Australia and Japan, and secure a place in the competition for the third consecutive time.
