Iran finished as the runner-up at the 2019 Freestyle World Cup in Yakutsk, Russia.
On Sunday, Iran suffered a 9-1 defeat against Russia in the final to fall short of a ninth World Cup title.
Iran’s sole victory in the final came in the 92kg bout, where Mohammad-Javad Ebrahimi outpowered Russia’s Magomed Kurbanov 2-1.
En route to the final showpiece, Iran had beaten Mongolia and the US before overcoming Georgia 8-2 earlier on Sunday to secure the top spot in Group.
Moreover, the US team overcame Japan 6-4 in the battle for the third place.
The eight-team competition was held in two groups on March 16-17.
