‘Cold Sweat’ to represent Iran at Panama film festival

Iranian film ‘Cold Sweat’, directed by Soheil Beiraqi, will attend the International Showcase section of Panama Film Festival as one of the 18 competitors in the section.

The film is due to be screened along with prominent representatives of world cinema, including ‘Cold War’ directed by Pawel Pawlikowski, ‘Capernaum’ by Nadine Labaki, ‘Burning’ by LEE Chang-dong, ‘Dogman’ by Matteo Garrone, ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ by Barry Jenkins, ‘Never Look Away’ by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and ‘Shoplifters’ by Hirokazu Kore-eda, ISNA reported.

International Showcase section of Panama International Film Festival is dedicated to prominent films and winners of international awards.

‘Cold Sweat’ tells the story of Afrooz who is the captain of the women's futsal team in Iran. After 11 years of hard work, her dream comes true: Iran is in the final of the Asian Nations Games. But when she embarks the plane to leave for Malaysia, she learns that her husband forbids her to leave the territory.

Amir Jadidi and Sahar Dolatshahi, who starred in the film won Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor and Crystal Simorgh for Best Supporting Actress, respectively at Fajr International Film Festival.

The film has previously been screened in competition section of Stockholm International Film Festival, 31st Tokyo International Film Festival’s “Asian Future” section and Bengaluru International Film Festival, as well as Palm Springs International Film Festival.

2019 International Film Festival of Panama will be held April 4-10 in Panama.
