Iran offers condolence over ferry overturning in Iraq

Spokesman of Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi expressed Iran's condolences over the tragic incident in which a ferry keeled over in Iraq and about 100 people died.

The ferry was transporting people from a bank of the Tigris River to a small tourist island, called Umm al-Rabeein, on Thursday, IRNA reported.

The ferry reportedly sunk near Mosul. It claimed the lives of 71 passengers.

Iraqi Prime Minster Adil Abdul-Mahdi has ordered an inquiry on Thursday into the incident and said justice should be served.

He has also declared three days of public mourning.
