Iran fencer snatches bronze in Hungary World Cup

Iranian Fencer Mojtba Abedini received a bronze medal in Hungary World Cup held in Bucharest.

The Coupe du Monde par équipes (Hungary World Cup) was held on Sunday, IRNA wrote.

In Sabre category, after hitting German fencer, Abedini defeated South Korea and Russia and advanced to semi-final stage.

He had earlier, grabbed a silver medal in Italian World Cup.

In semi-final match, he was overpowered by South Korea and ranked third.

The Sabre is one of the three disciplines of modern fencing. The sabre weapon is for thrusting and cutting with both the cutting edge and the back of the blade. Unlike other modern fencing weapons, the épée and foil, where the methods of making a hit are scored using the point of the blade.
