Pak daily emphasizes on stronger Iran-Pakistan ties

A leading Pakistan news daily has emphasized the need for stronger ties between two friendly states of Iran and Pakistan.

The 'Express Tribune' in its editorial on Wednesday said that a statement by the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan about the resolution of ‘misunderstanding’ between Tehran and Islamabad is really a satisfying development.

It added that February 13 suicide attack in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province that borders Pakistan’s Balochistan created some misunderstandings in bilateral ties.

The paper said that Pakistan took positive steps and the Iranian concerns however were addressed, IRNA reported.

“Another positive development that helped pacify the Iranian government took place on March 21 when Pakistan rescued and handed over to Tehran four Iranian soldiers who had been held captive by a militant group in Balochistan since October 2018,” it said.

The editorial went on to say that what is more important is that Iranian ambassador’s repeated suggestion that “third parties” should have no role in determining the nature of the Pakistan-Iran ties.
