He made the statement during his visit to the 25th China Tourism Exhibition, adding that there is considerable potential for boosting cooperation between Iran and China in the field of tourism.
The envoy pointed out that the two countries shared many common characteristics and added that the two countries’ friendly relations in different fields require development in the tourism industry, IRNA reported.
China has a lot of tourism opportunities due to its high economic growth, and in addition to attracting a large number of foreign tourists, many Chinese people also travel to foreign countries every year, he said.
While pointing out that many countries from Africa to European countries are planning to attract Chinese tourists, he added that Iran has considerable potential to be one of the most important destinations for Chinese tourists.
Keshavarz-Zadeh said Iran could easily attract a greater number of Chinese tourists if it meets the requirements for Chinese tourists in Iran and offers the necessary facilities.
Given that the requirements are met and the necessary facilities are offered, Chinese tourists will become highly enthusiastic to visit Iran, he said.
The Chinese exhibition that opened in Beijing with the presence of 85 countries, including Iran, is also seen by experts as an opportunity to introduce Iran to foreign tourists, especially to the host country.
China sends about 120 million tourists to other countries annually and more than 85 million tourists visit this country each year.
According to statistics in 2017, about 115,000 Iranians traveled to China, while on the other hand, more than 100,000 Chinese tourists visited Iran in the same year. However, Iranians who are active in the tourism industry hope to attract more than this in the coming years.
A number of Chinese tourism experts attending the exhibition have sought government cooperation and support while seeking to attract foreign tourists to Iran.
