Mounesan made the statement in his meeting with Rouhani to present a report of ICHHTO’s plans for the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21), IRNA reported.
He added that Rouhani said increasing the number of hotels would help enhance ICHHTO’s role in the recreation field.
Referring to the damages inflicted by the recent floods to the cultural heritage, Rouhani highlighted following up renovation of damaged sites, Mounesan said.
He added that despite political pressures, ICHHTO could register the Sassanid Empire ancient site in Fars Province.
He also pointed to the unprecedented increase in the number of tourists, international events like Hamedan 2018, World Tourism Organization meeting in Iran, Tehran International Tourism Exhibition and promoting the standards of tourism services as important in improving the indices of Iran’s tourism industry at the domestic and global levels.
Earlier, Mounesan said the problems and sanctions imposed by the United States did not prevent the growth of this industry.
He added, “Iran’s economy needs to have other incomes, such as the tourism industry, along with the oil, non-oil revenues and taxes.”
