IMIDRO: Coal concentrate output grew by 8% in year ending March 2019

Coal concentrate production by two companies affiliated with Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) grew eight percent year-on-year in the 12-month period to March 2019, according to IMIDRO.

In addition, coal mining by these two companies, Tabas Coal Mines Complex (TCMC) and Central Alborz Coal Company, increased 28 percent in this time span compared to the figure for the same duration a year ago, IMIDRO added.

In this duration, the two companies produced 732,054 tons of coal concentrate. The figure stood at 675,808 tons in the same time span in the preceding year. Of the figure produced in the year to March 2019, over 633,000 tons pertained to TCMC and 99,035 tons to the Central Alborz Coal Company.

In addition, TCMC and the Central Alborz Coal Company mined 1.74 million tons of coal during the 12 month period to March 2019. This came as the figure for the year to March 2018 stood at 1.37 million tons.

Of the total amount of coal mined in the 12 month period to March 2019, 1.58 million tons were extracted by TCMC and 160,866 tons by the Central Alborz Coal Company.

In the year to March 2019, the two companies sold 759,599 tons of coal concentrate, of which 640,609 tons pertained to TCMC and 119,290 tons to the Central Alborz Coal Company.

The figure amounted to 664,472 tons in the year to March 2018, 14 percent lower than their sales the next year.

 

Iron ore

Sangan Iron Ore Complex (SIOC) has placed on its agenda mining 13.9 million tons of iron ore by March 2020, IMIDRO said.

According to IMIDRO, this comes as the complex mined over 5.6 million tons of the mineral in the year to March 2019, exceeding its set annual production target (three million tons) 81 percent.

In addition, the complex plans to conduct 4,000 meters of exploration activities in an area stretching 4,000 meters.

 

Sponge iron

Sefid Dasht Steel Complex set a new record in the monthly production of sponge iron by producing over 65,000 tons of the product during March 21-April 21, 2019, according to IMIDRO.   

The company had earlier set another record in this filed by producing 64,000 tons of sponge iron in the period between November 22-December 21, 2018.
