12th round of Syrian peace talks kicks off in Kazakhstan

The 12th round of intra-Syrian peace talks started in Nur-Sultan, the Kazakh capital, on Thursday.

According to Kazinform, Iran, Russia and Turkey took part in the talks, IRNA reported.

Iranian delegation is led by Ali Asghar Khaji, Iranian FM's Senior Aide for Special Political Affairs, the Russian delegation is led by Russian President's Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev, and the Turkish delegation is led by Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal, Kazinform said. 

Bashar al-Jafari is represent the Syrian government and UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen attended the intra-Syrian talks for the first time.

A delegation of the Syrian opposition, as well as a delegation of Jordan, which is an observer country, will participate in the meeting.

On April 25, the sides will hold bilateral and trilateral consultations. A plenary session to draft the Constitution is scheduled for April 26.
