Mohsen Javadi made the statement during a program titled ‘Shiraz Art and Culture Day’ held on April 27 on the sidelines of the 32nd Tehran International Book Fair, IRNA wrote.
Depth of philanthropy among people in Fars Province lies in the efforts of the province elites and scholars, he said, expressing hope that these efforts will transfer wisdom and knowledge to the next generation.
General Director of Culture and Guidance Department of Fars Province Saber Sohrabi said that the previous Persian calendar year (ended March 20, 2019) was a great year for the province in terms of books and publishing industry.
A total number of 220 libraries are available throughout the province, he added.
An exhibition of the province’s handicraft treasures was also held.
3,200 publishers with 437,000 book titles are showcasing their latest publications in this edition of the fair. About 2,400 Iranian publishers with 300,000 titles and 800 foreign publishers with 137,000 titles are present at the exhibition.
The 32nd fair, with the motto “Reading Is Ability”, opened on April 24 and will run until May 4 at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Grand Prayers Ground (Mosalla).
