Iraq's Foreign Ministry on Sunday condemned an anti-Iran statement posted by the US Embassy in Bagdad on its Facebook account, saying it runs against diplomatic principles.
In a statement, the ministry said the US Embassy has violated "diplomatic norms and international rules that regulate the work of [diplomatic] missions in host countries" by sharing the post.
The ministry said the move is a breach of the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
The ministry urged the US mission to delete the Facebook post in which it accused Iran’s top authorities of economic corruption.
“The move contradicts with the principles of the Iraqi constitution”, the ministry said, asking the US mission to “refrain from posting statements that could affect Iraq's ties with neighboring and friendly countries”.
