Maku, Nakhchivan sign tourism MoU

Maku Free Zone Organization (MFZO) in northwestern Iran and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic signed MoU on tourism, deputy head of MFZO for development and international trade said.

Speaking to IRNA, Mehdi Khalaf-Khani said launching Baku-Maku, Mashhad-Nakhchivan and Maku-Mashhad tours are among articles of the MoU.

He added that during the meeting with Nakhchivan Economy Minister Famil Seyidov, both sides reviewed ways of setting up tourism holdings and developing trade and tourism cooperation.

Referring to Iran and Azerbaijan as two neighboring countries with historic and cultural relations, he said Nakhchivan officials and the active companies are after developing bilateral cooperation in all fields.

In addition to its economic aspects, tourism has important cultural dimensions, Khalaf-Kahni said.

MFZO was established in order to accelerate accomplishing fundamental affairs, construction and development, economic development, investment and increasing public income, providing suitable employment, regulating labor and goods market, active presence in global and regional markets, offering public services, producing different kinds of industrial and technological goods.
