A clash between police force in southeastern Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan and an armed gang of drug traffickers resulted in death of four members of the gang and seizure of over two tons of different kinds of drugs.

The armed gang of drug traffickers driving three cars was identified on Wednesday (May 8), Deputy Police Chief of Sistan-Baluchestan Province Brigadier General Ahmad Taheri announced on Thursday, according to IRNA.

About the clash, the police official said four of the drug traffickers were killed and two others were arrested in Saravan city near Iran's joint border with Pakistan.

Iran plays considerable role in minimizing demand for drugs and preventing its use, while treating and rehabilitating the addicts and bringing them back to society.
