Statistics show that machine-made carpets account for half of Iran’s total export value of textile industries, Ha’eri reiterated, reported Fars News Agency.
He said that 90 million square meters of machine-made carpets were produced in the country during the past Iranian year (ended March 20), of which 60 million square meters were sent to the domestic market.
The country enjoys a high capacity of producing up to 120 million square meters of machine-made carpets per annum, Ha’eri stated.
Carpet exporters can be supported by granting export loans, and considering methods for the reimbursement of the loans, said the official, adding that offering export incentives and facilitating trade relations with other countries would be useful.
Machine-made Iranian carpets are considered one of the most expensive textile products in the world, he said, adding that if the domestic production of machine-made carpets were supported, this product could get the lion’s share in the international markets.
Haeri also said that Iran enjoys a high capacity for exporting machine-made carpets, up by $1.5 billion annually.
