Largest Iranian-made cargo vessel exported

Largest Iranian-made fiberglass cargo vessel, capable of carrying 1,300 tons of cargo, was exported, said Director General of Ports and Maritime Organization of Hormuzgan Province Morad Afifipour on Sunday.

The vessel was devised and manufactured on Qeshm Island in 360 days, Afifipour said.

He said that it has two engines collectively with 2,500 horsepower; 55 meters of length and 16 meters of width. It weighs 500 tons.

He added that all the stages of manufacturing the vessel were carried out by Iranians on Qeshm Island, which shows the capabilities and know-how of the manufacturing sector in the province.

It was floated in early spring and obtained all the certificates and was exported in mid-spring.

Afifipour said that Iran stopped imports of such vessels over the past several years and now Iran has become an exporter of these vessels.

Hormuzgan Province has a shipyard and 60 plants that make wooden, fiberglass and aluminum vessels in accordance with international standards.
