Iranian FM, UN official discuss regional, int’l issues

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with the UN political affairs chief Rosemary DiCarlo, discussing a host of issues, including the latest developments in the Middle East region and the world.

Zarif and DiCarlo held talks on the sidelines of the 19th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Kyrgyzstan on Friday, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Accompanying a high-ranking delegation headed by President Hassan Rouhani, Zarif arrived in Bishkek on Thursday to attend the summit.

The summit was held on June 13-14 with leaders of 11 countries.

The SCO is an intergovernmental organization which was founded for multilateral political, economic and security cooperation. China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and India are major members while, Iran, Mongolia, Afghanistan, and Belarus serve as observers.
