Iran moved up one spot to the 20th place at the latest FIFA World Ranking released by the world football governing body on Friday.

The Asian powerhouse collected 1518 points to maintain its position as the continent’s highest ranked team with Japan (28), South Korea (37), Australia (43) and Qatar (55) completing the Asia’s top five.

Iran, having appointed Marc Wilmots as the new manager, beat Syria 5-0 in Tehran on June 6 before settling for a 1-1 draw with South Korea in Seoul last Tuesday – in Belgian’s first two matches in charge of the Asian side.

Belgium (1746pts), France (1718pts), Brazil (1681pts) and England (1652pts) formed an unchanged top four in the world ranking, followed by newly-crowned UEFA Nations League champion Portugal, which overtook Croatia for fifth place.
