Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held separate meetings with new ambassadors of China, Tajikistan, France and Poland.
During the meetings, President Rouhani received the credentials of the newly-appointed envoys and discussed relations as well as regional and international issues amid growing tensions between Iran and the United States following Washington’s military deployment in the Persian Gulf to deter what it claims threats from Iran.
In his meeting with the new Ambassador of China Chang Hua, President Rouhani said that facilitating the implementation of agreements signed between the two countries is very important in the current circumstances.
“We welcome China’s more cooperation and investment in our southern ports and transportation”, Rouhani added, according to the president’s official website.
China is Iran’s biggest trade partner in the world.
The Chinese ambassador said that Beijing’s policy is to further develop relations between the two countries in cultural, commercial, energy and transportation fields.
The Iranian president also met the new Ambassador of Poland Maciej Fałkowski.
He referred to the long-standing and developing relations between Tehran and Warsaw and said the two countries are determined today to strengthen their friendly ties and have many opportunities to develop economic, scientific and cultural relations.
The Polish diplomat said the bilateral relations between the two nations are recorded in the history and Iran’s help provided to the Polish war refugees (during WWII) is “unforgettable”.
He also hailed Iran’s effective role in establishment of peace and security in the region.
Also on Monday, the Iranian president held talks with Nizomoddin Zohidi, the new ambassador of Tajikistan, where Rouhani recently paid an official visit to participate in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
“Tehran is ready to develop its relations with Dushanbe in all fields of mutual interest”, Rouhani told the Tajik diplomat.
Rouhani said that Iran welcomes promotion of cooperation with Tajikistan in agriculture, energy, arts, culture, academia and technology.
Zohidi said, “Development of relations between Iran and Tajikistan is very important and Your Excellency’s visit to Tajikistan is a new chapter in relations between the two countries”.
